Antimicrobial Stewardship Services

We provide access to a multidisciplinary team including Physicians, Pharmacists and Nurses that are specialists in implementing Antimicrobial Stewardship compliant programs.

Our team attends applicable meetings as necessary including one QA meeting per year. The team performs antibiotic time-outs 3-4 times per month.

Our team reviews and provides expert analysis of data related to antimicrobial utilization, antimicrobial resistance (including review of the facility antibiogram) and patient outcomes. The antibiotic usage analysis presentation and antibiotic guidelines are developed and updated annually.

Our team provides expertise and guidance to the facility on best practices for education of the medical staff about appropriate and inappropriate use of antimicrobials and side effects of antimicrobial therapy that aims to:

a. Maximize the appropriate usage of antimicrobials

b. Minimize antimicrobial therapy harm and adverse reactions;

c. Minimize the development of antimicrobial associated resistance;

d. Minimize the use of combination antimicrobial therapy whenever practically possible;

e. Decrease, minimize and attempt to eliminate the use of double coverage or redundant antimicrobial combinations;

f. De-escalate the use of broad-spectrum antimicrobial therapy;

g. Maximize the use of narrow spectrum agents when possible;

h. Optimize antimicrobial dosing;

i. Optimize duration of antimicrobial duration;

j. Encourage changing route of administration from intravenous to oral whenever possible.Our team provides educational programming for nurses including Continuing Education credits.

Our team provides educational resources for residents and families.

Our team develops and provides resources to help you maintain a compliance binder to aid in the survey process.

Annual N95 Fit Testing and certification available.
